The pen that quotes the praise and admiration for Maulaanal Muqaddas Saiyedna Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb (AQ), the 44th Da’i in succession amongst the Du’aat ul-Mutlaqeen of Alavi Da’wat, has dried up in continuing and summarising, as the virtues are limitless and words are few to extol them!

In the year 1436 AH, Saiyedna saheb has completed 42 years of long tenure as the Naa’ib-e-Imam uz-Zamaan on this Masnad-e-Taiyebi, and the whole community implores and exhorts Allaah to grant him glorious maqaam. Because all these years have witnessed great strides of progress, achievement, advancement, prosperity & modernization of the well-knit Alavi Bohra community both here and abroad, not only in terms of education, wealth & religion but also in awareness in youth about our identity and our religious roots! This has been made possible due to the able leadership, guidance, advice and above all, the qaabil-e-qubool Du’aa-e-Khayr of Maulaa Saiyedna Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb AQ.

The Muqaddas Saiyedna whose honorable Laqab is Taiyeb (meaning pure, untarnished), is derived from the name of 21st Imam, Imam Taiyeb AS, who went into Satr (seclusion, concealment), in 528 AH in Cairo, due to the fear of life and indescribable oppression and tyranny of the people of other communities at that time, when he was just 4 years old. Following the direct guidance of Imaam uz-Zamaan AS, Maulatana Hurrat ul-Malekah who was a Hujjat of 18th Imaam al-Mustansir AS, 19th Imaam al-Musta'ali AS and 20th Imaam al-Aamir AS, appointed Saiyedna Zoeb bin Saiyedi Moosa QR as the first Da’i-e-Mutlaq in Yemen. So from the 1st Da’i solemnized in 532 AH in Yemen till the present 45th Badr-e-Muneer of Falak-e-Da’wat Saiyedna Haatim Zakiyuddin saheb TUS residing in Vadodara, Gujarat, the Da’wat mission is uninterruptedly achieving its goal and will remain eternal according to the Hadees-e-Shareef of Saiyed ul-Ambiyaa Mohammed Rasoolullaah SAWS, these direct descendents of Maulaana 'Ali Ameer ul Mumineen AS and Maulaatana Faatemat uz-Zahraa AS, will come one after another in succession till Qaa'im ul-Qeyaamah will descend before the Day of Judgement!

The 44th Da’i-e-Mutlaq being the representative (naa'ib) of Imaam uz-Zamaan  AS, Maulaa had continued his predecessor's endeavors with particular emphasis on strengthening the community's Islamic practices by promoting and spreading awareness about the Faatimid identity and Isma'ili legacy.  His birthplace is Badri Mohalla, Vadodara and coincidently his birth date falls on 4th Rabi’ ul-Aakhar 1351 AH/6th August 1932 AD, when 21st Faatemi Imaam Maulaana at-Taiyeb AS was born in Egypt on the same date in 524 AH/22 February 1130 AD.  Under the graceful hands of his grandfather, the 42nd Da'i, Saiyedna Fidaali Badruddin saheb AQ, he completed his education and during the Da’iship of his beloved father, the 43rd Da'i, Saiyedna Yusuf Nuruddin saheb AQ, he being Ma’zoon (a spiritual status after Da’i) at that time shouldered the responsibility of educating people in the modern framework for the betterment of the community.

He was instrumental in setting up the English medium school with Zenith family immediately during the initial years of his Da’iship on Da’wat e Shareefah land of Pratapnagar road.  He wished that all his Alavi children take education at par and succeed in all fields of entrepreneurship.  He used to reiterate, “O my Children! May you reach the zenith of your education or settle anywhere in the world but remember to embrace you identity and roots.  Don’t give it up for the sake of money, fame or fear.  Proudly reveal yourself as an esteemed member of Alavi Bohra community.”

During his tenure being on a status of Da’i-e-Mutlaq, on 4th Rabi’ ul-Aakhar 1404 AH/7th January 1984 AD, he appointed his eldest son Haatim Zakiyuddin saheb as his successor-legatee and elevated him to the status of Ma’zoon-e-Mutlaq.  He appointed his son Mohammad Nuruddin saheb to the status of Mukaasir-e-Mutlaq on 7th Rajab 1430 AH/29th June 2009 AD after the demise of his son Mukaasir-e-Mutlaq Dr. Husain Mo’eenuddin saheb on 13th Shawwaal 1429 AH/12th October 2008 AD.  The status of Ra's ul-Hudood is headed by his youngest son Dr. Zulqarnain Hakeemuddin saheb.

The childhood name of Maulaa is Ayyubali exemplifying the virtue of patience and forbearance that has been immortalized by Ayyub Nabi AS. The memoirs of childhood of Saiyedna are replete with descriptions of his strenuous training with respect to schooling and religion by 42nd Da’i Saiyedna Badruddin Saheb QR who was his teacher and mentor. Daily daras comprised of preaching, anecdotes, stories, references, quotes & advices from Qur’an-e-Majid, Hadees-e-Nabawi, Fiqh, Tawarikh and Akhbaar, Parables from Da’wat books and special instructions highlighting the realities of Isma’ilism. At Devdi Mubaarak, If a child did not offer morning prayer, he was not given breakfast and if he did not recite Qur'an on getting up he had to face severe and stern punishment.

The prophecy of the 42nd Da’i, Saiyedna Badruddin Saheb (QR), who was the teacher and closely attached and emotionally involved with the Muqaddas Maulaa Saiyedna saheb, that the Alavi Da’wat will attain unparallel heights & culmination at the hands of Maulaa Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb, started becoming true and factual immediately on his accession to the Da’wat’s throne on 17th Rajab, 1394 AH. It is the day on which 43rd Da’i, Saiyedna Yusuf Nuruddin Saheb (QR) did Intiqaal and went for heavenly abode, after doing Nass-e-Jali i.e. explicitly appointing Muqaddas Maulaa as the 44th Da’i-e-Mutlaq.

In 1395 AH, Maulaanal Muqaddas went for Hajj-e-Baytullaah with 27 mumineens, exactly the same number which were present with Saiyedna Ali (QR) in Ahmedabad during the mutiny by the usurper of Ahl-e-Motaghallib. This honour of Hajj was bestowed upon by Allaah to our Maulaa, again in 1412 AH, the only Da’i till now of having performed Hajj twice! And who has the honour of becoming the first Mansoor ul-Yaman and Zaa'ir ul-Mashhadayn il-‘Azeemayn, Maulaa Muqaddas who went to Karbalaa, Shaam, Najaf, Kufah, Bayt ul- Muqaddas, Cairo & Yaman in an encompassing tour, spanning over a period of 1 1/2 month, in the year 1420 AH. Despite some physical constraints, Maulaa with karam-e-Rahmaani and roohani ta’eed from Imaam uz-Zamaan AS accomplished the most difficult part of this historic safar-e-mubaarak in perfect health and wellbeing. Maulaa was accompanied by his two sons Ma'zoon-e-Mutlaq and Mukaasir-e-Mutlaq.
